Current Gameplay

An example of a what apears on a map at the start of the game

When a new game is loaded, a randomly generated isometric map is created. This map is shaped in accordance to the selected density of hills, forests and water bodies selected on the start menu. Distributed across the map is a series of Towns, resources (Coal Mines, Forests etc.) and industries (Sawmills, Toolworks etc.). The purpose of the game is to build transportation systems to link these various settlements/industries together to produce money and more complex resources.

As time progresses through the game, the amount of resources and technology available to you increases. Initially players are only able to purchase slow, old steam engines, however with progression; diesel, electric, monorails and even maglev trains will become available. Alongside these new resources become available, including: Iron, Steel, Oil, Concrete, Nuclear power and Super-conductors.

Railways

Currently the game only has railways implemented into the game. The player has passenger trains to convey passengers between towns to generate money from tickets, delivering passengers also causes the towns to grow, resulting in a greater money-making potential. Freight trains can transport a variety of cargos between the various industrial facilities on the map. At the end of the production chain, the resources will be converted into a resource specific currency, which is required for purchasing better vehicles for your company.

Railway tracks can travel parallel to the grid as well as diagonally across the grid. Currently the game only has block signals implemented, these are basic and stop a train if the section of track ahead of the signal is occupied. Signals are necessary for multiple train operation on a connected railway network.

Roads

Roads are only partially implemented into the game, they cannot be used to transport any passengers/resources. However, in the current game they are a useful tool for controlling and manipulating the shape and size of towns.

About Mashinky

Mashinky is a strategy game created by Jan Zeleny. The goal is to build your own transport imperium on a procedurally generated map. The game is unique combination of realistic graphics combined with an isometric construction mode and board-like game rules. A challenging business simulation game with everything cargo delivery can require.

The player is an enterpreneur running his own transport company. He needs to lay tracks on a difficult terrain, invent and build new vehicles, define routes and compete against economy itself to make as much profit as possible. By transporting passengers and cargo.

Inspired by the famous games from the 90s and especially by Chris Sawyer's Transport Tycoon.

Mashinky aims to combine the best from 3D visualisation and addictiveness of the isometric gameplay. It all takes place on a procedurally generated world that acts as a sandbox with endless possibilities. Finding the best strategy is never the same.

Every game is different. It's up to you to find the best opportunities, invent the most fitting vehicles, expand industries and improve your stations. It is up to you to adapt to the challenge.
