The Foundry building converts Coal() and Iron Ore(). Both resources are produced by coal mines and iron ore mines which both need transporting to a foundry in order for them to be converted into Iron(). It is used by only to produce Iron Tokens() and to complete challenges, it used by two buildings: a Toolworks and the Ruined Church. Foundries are an Era II building, therefore when tranistioning from the Early Steam Era to the Steam Era several Foundries will appear in random locations across the map.
Processes
The base unit of the Foundry consumes 5 Coal() and 3 Ore() and produces 2 Iron() and 2 Coal() Tokens every Game tick. There are two extensions that can be added to the foundry. The sheet metal mill provides a more balanced process, requiring equal amounts Coal() and Iron Ore(), however, the process is considerably slower than the other process of the foundry. Meanwhile the Blast furnace provides a large increase to production output of the foundry. Overall, a Foundry with both extensions will consume 11 Coal() and 8 Ore() while producing 4.5 Iron() and 4.5 Coal Tokens() every Tick.
The base production process for the Foundry is shown below:
