Once a post office is within the catchment area of a station, two processes will begin. The first process takes Mail [[File:icon mail.png|16px]] that has been delivered to the station, takes it to the post office and converts it into Money Tokens [[File:token money.png|16px]] at a rate of 1 piece of Mail [[File:icon mail.png|16px]] for 3 Money Tokens [[File:token money.png|16px]] per 80 squares of distance traveled.
The second process produces 1-4 pieces of Mail [[File:icon mail.png|16px]] per 2 [[Game tick|'''game ticks''']], this is then sent to the nearby station, ready for collection by a train pulling [[Wagons#Mail|'''Mail Wagons''']] or by [[Road_vehicles#Mail_Vehicles|'''Mail carrying trucks''']]. The number of Mail [[File:icon mail.png|16px]] produced depends on the level of the Post office. Post office has 3 levels changing automatically as your city growth. Moreover, at level 3 there is an extra electrification bonus [[File:e_energy.png|16px]] if you connect the Post Office to your electrical network [[File:e_energy.png|16px]].
