The building tools are identical for all three types of railway:
This opens a Sub-Menu with 7 options for building railway tracks
;Railway
This option allows you to build railway tracks by dragging the tool accross across the map, complex junctions can be created by joining the lines together. Attempting to place a track over a deletable building will demolish the building.
;Remover
This tool will remove only railway tracks and signals, it will not affect non-railway related options. It will alow allow you to select a single section of track, making it a more precice precise alternative to the Bulldoze tool. Also, by holding the mouse button and dragging, you can select whole section of the track to be removed. You can remove signal separately, however; if you remove piece of track containing signal, the signal will be deleted, too.;Block SignalUpgrade/Degrade tool A tool that (Available from Era 3) it allows you to change the placing whole section of block signals on any open track to a different type. You can either select a section of the track, when placed a signal is initially biby clicking on single piece -directional, one of will select the masts whole length from station to next complex crossing or switch. Or you can then be selected whilst using mark rectangle on the map (by dragging the tool to set a specific direction for mouse cursor while holding left mouse button) and it will change all tracks within the signalmarked area.
;Depot
Builds a Depot building to enable trains to be purchased in order to run on the railway
;Station
Builds a Station, initially the max length is only 6 tiles. Building a new station in an adjacent tile to an existing station resutls results in them being combined to form a single station.
;Bridge
Builds a Bridge between 2 points, the bridge must be perpendicular to the grids to work, gradients on bridges are allowed.
;Tunnel
Builds a Tunnel between 2 points, the tunnel must be perpendicular to the grids to work, gradients on tunnels are allowed.;SignalsDepending on the Advanced Game Setting there will be either one (for auto signal) or two (for manual selection of block and chain signals) icons for placing signals. Please refer to Signals page for more details.;Multisignal toolThis allows you to place multiple signals on long section of the track (between switches and/or stations) with single click. By using the small + and - icons beside the tool, you can set the distance (in squares) between those signals.

Using it over the intersection, it will remove only one branch of the intersection (unlike the bulldozer which will remove the entire intersection in single click) ;Upgrade tool (Available from Era 4) it allows you to change the whole section of road to a different type by clicking on the piece of the road. ;One-Way RoadAllows you to build one-way road. Dragging it over an existing road will change the marked section into one-way (in the direction of the tool move). Please note, this action can be undone only by removing the road entirely and building a new (two-way) one. ;DepotBuilds a Road Depot building to enable buses and trucks to be purchased in order to drive on the roads.;StationBuilds a Station for road vehicles, initially the max length is only 6 tiles. Building a new station in an adjacent tile to an existing station results in them being combined to form a single station. You can also combine road and train stations;One-way StationBuilds on-way station in the same way as one-way road. ;BridgeBuilds a Bridge between 2 points, the bridge must be perpendicular to the grids to work, gradients on bridges are allowed.;TunnelBuilds a Tunnel between 2 points, the tunnel must be perpendicular to the grids to work, gradients on tunnels are allowed.
