The Foundry building converts Coal [[File:icon coal.png|16px|link=Material]] and Iron Ore [[File:icon iron ore.png|16px|link=Material]]. Both resources are produced by [[Coal Mine|'''coal mines''']] and [[Iron Ore Mine|'''iron ore mines''']] which both need transporting to a foundry in order for them to be converted into Iron ingots [[File:icon iron.png|16px|link=Material]]. It is used to produce Iron Tokens [[File:token iron.png|16px|link=Token]] in '''[[Toolworks]]''' and to complete challenges, it used by two buildingsproduce Steel [[File: a icon_steel.png|16px|link=material]] in '''[[Steelworks]]'''. Iron ingots [[ToolworksFile:icon iron.png|16px|link=Material]] and the are also needed to complete '''[[Ruined Church]]''' challenge. Foundries are an [[Ages#EraII|'''Era II''']] buildingbuildings, therefore when transitioning from the [[Ages#EraI|'''Early Steam Era''']] to the [[Ages#EraII|'''Steam Era''']] several Foundries will appear in random locations across the map.

The base unit building of the Foundry consumes 5 3 units of Coal [[File:icon coal.png|16px|link=Material]] and 3 units of Iron Ore [[File:icon iron ore.png|16px|link=Material]] and produces 2 producing 3 Iron ingots [[File:icon iron.png|16px|link=Material]] and 2 Coal Tokens [[File:token coal.png|16px|link=Token]] every '''[[Game tick]]'''. There are two extensions that can be added to the foundryimmediately. The Sheet metal mill provides Of these two, the ''Blast Furnace'' offers a more balanced process, requiring equal amounts Coal [[File:icon coal.png|16px|link=Material]] and Iron Ore [[File:icon iron ore.png|16px|link=Material]], however, the process is considerably slower than the other processes of the foundry. Meanwhile the Blast furnace provides while providing a large increase to production output of the foundry. There is another ''Improved Blast Furnace'' extension available in later era. Overall, a fully upgraded Foundry with both extensions [[Electrification|'''without electrification''']] will consume 11 14 units of Coal [[File:icon coal.png|16px|link=Material]] and 8 13.5 units of Iron Ore [[File:icon iron ore.png|16px|link=Material]] while producing 413.5 Iron ingots [[File:icon iron.png|16px|link=Material]] and 4.5 6 Coal Tokens [[File:token coal.png|16px|link=Token]] every Tick'''[[Game tick]]'''. The base building and the ''Sheet Metal Mill'' extension can be connected to the electrical network [[File:E_energy.png|16px|link=Electrification]] from [[Ages#EraV|'''Era 5''']] onward, which will further increase their production of Iron ingots [[File:icon iron.png|16px|link=Material]] without increasing the raw material consumption. The amount of electrification production bonus is shown in the brackets at each building.<br/>Moreover, special extension (''Electric Arc Furnace'') becomes available.
