World Editor
The World editor is a different game mode for Mashinky, which allows shaping of the game map at large, placing towns, industries, trees and infrastructure freely as players see fit. Players can create their own maps to play on and share them with the community. Maps can be randomly generated by the game then edited by the player, imported from a heightmap or fully handmade from a flat surface using the World editor's tools.

Making a map
When you start the World Editor, you're greeted with a blank map, a Brushes window, an unnamed general settings window opened to the Heightmap tab, and a toolbar along the bottom.
You will want to set your general settings first, and then start "painting" on your map: adding anything from new towns to mountains and trees. See the Build Tool below for how you access adding new towns and industries.
Remember to switch from Realistic mode to Construction mode. Only in Construction mode will all the toolbar buttons be available.
Brushes Window

Settings Window
This window allows you to either start from scratch, creating everything yourself, or autogenerate some basic terrain and infrastructure. (You can then add more towns, houses and industries, and you can remove/bulldoze existing buildings, mountains and forests. Autogenerating your start can be a good idea to ensure you don't forget to add every type of building to your map)
Build Tool
The most important toolbar button to find and use is the Industry icon. Click it to access buttons for adding cities, industries and more. (When you play the game, this menu choice only offers player-buildable buildings, see Menu Bar#Industry. In the World Editor, however, you can build every type of building.)
Do remember, except for Era I industries, industries will not appear when you first start playing your map. They will only appear as you reach the appropriate Era. If you happen to build a rail line right over the spot where an industry is placed, it will appear in the closest available free space.

Importing a heightmap
For use in-game put a 24bit bmp file in the heightmap folder: Steam\steamapps\common\Mashinky\heightmaps. Mashinky will only use the red channel for heightmaps but a greyscale image should work just fine.
A good site for getting zoomed-in real world heightmaps is Terrain.party.
