==Early Steam Era==
This is the age that the game starts in. There are currently 3 locomotives availble in this era. All three are based on early locomotives from the USA.

==Early Diesel eraRare / Quest engines==This There is rare/quest train available in each epoch. They are not available in depot, but only as a reward. Some of them are easy to get and everybody will receive them. Others are more complex and you'd have to finish some task(s) to get them. Some are even rewards for hidden quests which you will get if you fulfill the ''secret'' conditions during a play-through.   Except for the SGV quest, you are rewarded individual engines only. That is , you can only ever have the third era engines you are rewarded with, you cannot build more of these types. The SGV quest unlocks the game, entering this era gives SGV factory and you can produce any desired number of SGV engines and wagons as long as you access keep bringing the required material to three more locomotivesthe SGV factory.
